ISTE GECBH
Nikola Tesla Championship or NTS is one of the flagship events conducted by ISTE GECB Students Chapter. It is a highly competitive event which enhances communicative and leadership skills. Particularly for the first years, it attempts to reward and encourage students to follow path of engineering through innovation and grit. Winner of this event receives a cash prize of Rs 10,000. This event mainly consists of three rounds, each one to test and evaluate different facets of an ideal engineer.
This examination consists of a set of questions from the field of Maths, Science, Mental Ability and General Knowledge. The questions are designed to test a candidate's critical thinking skills. Participants are given specified time to complete the exam and top candidates are selected for the next rounds.
Second round is of three phases namely Group Discussion, Technical interview and Business Presentation
The participants are given the topics 2 minutes prior to the commencement of their discussion and allowed 15 minutes to discuss their topics. Points are awarded based on the quality and clarity of points raised, ability to guide the discussion, body language and listening skills.
This interview helps to evaluate the technical knowledge and skills of the selected participants. Here the judging panel mainly focus on the technical skills and knowledge of the candidates in their respective fields which is outside the confines of their syllabus.
Finally, round 2 ends with a business presentation where participants showcase their research and presentation skills. The participants are assigned into different teams and given problem statements dealing with social issues. A technical report and business presentation on how they intend to solve the problem needs to be prepared. This event mainly tests the ability of the participants to work as a team and their presentation and business skills
The selected candidates move to the final round, wherein the judging panel tests the mettle
and gauges the dedication and efforts of the selected candidates towards engineering. The
interviewed participants also need to submit their resumes.
Amongst all the performances, the 3 month long awaited journey concludes by crowning the winner of NTS.
